Small Architecture

Given an average catwalk is at 1.8m wide. This will be the width of my design and incorporating all the spaces within that range. The idea less is more motto used by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is an intriguing one. I've applied it many times in past projects and beginning to understand how it all unfolds.

Japanese architecture is another precedent I've looked into discovering many unique projects consisting of very tight and small blocks where architects are building their designs. Even as small as a corner block being roughly around 6m2.

Below is a link to Japanese architect Ryue Nishizawa's house called the hanging garden home. I like the idea of keeping things compact, moveable and flexible allowing a house to create a range of multi-functional spaces.
